code of conduct

1. All skaters, coaches, parents and executive must abide by the Skate Canada Code of Ethics. This can be found on the Skate Canada website HERE.
2. All members must not engage in conduct injurious to the sport of figure skating. All members must act in a manner that is becoming of the CBN Skating Club.
3. Skaters, coaches and parents should refrain from using foul and abusive language.
4. Skaters must respect other skaters and their rights while on the ice.
5. Skaters must wear appropriate attire while on the ice, as recommended by the CBN Skating Club.
6. Skaters must respect all coaches at all times. Coaches have absolute control during skating sessions.
7. All guest skaters will pay guest skating fees before going on the ice.
8. All members will pay their registration fees before taking part in any skating sessions, unless otherwise approved by the President or Treasurer of the CBN Skating Club.
9. Skaters must have permission from their coach to leave the ice.
10. Ice etiquette must be obeyed as follows:
• First right of way – skaters having a lesson.
• Second right of way – skaters having their solo/music played.
• Third right of way – skaters practising the scheduled session, 
• Placement of spins and jumps must be according to ice guidelines.
11. Skaters must have equal opportunity to have their music played.
12. Skaters should not congregate on the ice. Rest breaks should be taken off the ice surface, with the coaches’ approval.
13. All skaters and coaches will be supportive of each other and do nothing to hinder another’s performance.
14. A coach has the right to ask a skater to leave the ice due to poor conduct.
15. Members will not cause damage to any arena, persons, or property of the CBN Skating Club.
16. Members will not possess or consume any alcohol and/or illegal substances during skating sessions.
17. Members and coaches must have their Skate Canada membership up to date before going on the ice. Only Skate Canada registered members are permitted on the ice.
18. All members will respect the personal dignity and privacy of all members/participants of the CBN Skating Club.
19. All parents and spectators will not ridicule or be critical of any skater or coach’s performance. They will also respect the actions and decisions of the executive members.
20. Suggestions or concerns regarding the CBN Skating Club should be made in writing to the President. If the President is not available, it should be given to an executive member to be passed on to the President at the soonest opportunity.
21. Complaints are NOT to be made directly to coaches and/or PA’s.
22. Coaches are not to be approached during any on-ice sessions. If you need to talk to your child’s coach please do so during floods.If you have an issue with a coach when they are on club time (Canskate, PreJunior or Synchro) do not address that coach. The issue is to be brought to the Club executive in writing.
23. No one is permitted in the boxes during on-ice sessions. It is distracting to the coaches as well as the skaters. All parents/spectators are asked to watch the sessions from the stands.
24. Failure to abide by this Code of Conduct may result in immediate suspension of ice privileges.

The CBN Skating Club is a volunteer-run organization. We are dedicated to the sport of skating and the continued existence and success of our organization. If any member has an issue that needs to be addressed, please bring it forward in writing. All members (parents, skaters, coaches) are welcome at any general meeting. It is our goal to address any and all issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
