CBNSC Covid 19 policy

LAST WEBSITE UPDATE: NOVEMBER 27, 2020

ATTENTION Conception Bay North Skating Club MEMBERS

At CBNSC the safety, security, and health of our members is always our top priority. As we all know, Covid-19 is a serious concern to public health here in our province, across Canada and around the world. At CBNSC we take this public health concern very seriously.

“NL Life with Covid-19”

On April 30, 2020 the Government announced NL Life with Covid-19, a program to ease back on restrictions that have been imposed under the Public Health Emergency. The plan is for a 5 “Alert Level” program, with restrictions being eased and relaxed as the Government moves through the Alert Levels from 5 to 1. Regular movement through the various Alert Levels is not guaranteed, and reversion to a more restrictive Alert Level may be required depending upon the assessment of various factors.

As the provinces arenas and facilities prepare to re-open, we have implemented the following added precautions and guidelines:

Updates as of November 24, 2020

  • Any skaters or spectators who have travelled outside of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador must not attend skating within 14 days of their return. No exceptions.
  • Skaters of any level are no longer permitted to move from dressing room to ice surface without a mask.
  • Starskaters: Once they have entered the ice, they can place their masks either in pockets or in a labelled baggie. Loose masks on the boards are not permitted.
  • Canskaters: Must also wear masks to the ice surface, and their accompanying adult should take them from them at that time.

Prior to coming skating each day, please check to ensure you are fit to do so here:

CONTINUED REGULATIONS

  • Skaters are to arrive for their session no sooner than 10 minutes prior to the start of their session. Contact tracing is not available prior to this time.
  • Skaters will enter the main doors and follow the arrows to the designated area to wait. (Volunteers will be on site to guide skaters).
  • Skaters will line up to get on the ice while maintaining physical distancing.
  • Masks are required for all skaters and spectators who are 5+ in any public building as per directives by the CHMO (effective August 24, 2020).
  • Any time anyone is moving around the building masks are required.
  • All Skaters are required to wear their masks to the ice surface.
  • Physical distancing must be practiced on ice as well, at all times. Skaters must distance from each other, and from coaches and Program Assistants.
  • When the session is over skaters will exit the ice, and make their way to the exit door immediately.
  • There is to be NO congregating inside or outside the stadium at any time.
  • Starskaters may enter their designated dressing rooms to prepare, but not prior to the 10 minutes before entry. Parents are not permitted in the dressing room at any level of STAR, so they must be able to tie their own skates. If this cannot be done, they must come rink ready.
  • Canskaters should come to the rink, ready to get on the ice.
  • Two spectators (per skater) are permitted to enter the stadium. Spectators are to sit in the designated seating area while maintaining physical distancing, even those currently in each other’s bubbles must adhere to this, no exceptions.
  • Any young children entering the stadium as spectators must be able to remain seated at all times and follow mask rules. No running around is permitted.

While we are glad to have the opportunity to resume skating, CBNSC and Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and follow the guidance and recommendations of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

We understand these new restrictions may be difficult for some families. If you, for any reason, feel you will not be able to operate within these new guidelines please do not register. It is the responsibility of CBNSC to enforce these rules which have been put in place by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Bay Arena and the Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in the loss of ice for all our groups. We will make every effort to ensure this doesn’t happen so moving forward anyone (spectator or skater) who does not follow the protocol as set out will be asked to leave the stadium.

Please note that our two rinks may have additional regulations, so please continue to monitor your emails and our Facebook page regularly.
